Lyrics to Bad Reputation- Joan Jett
I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation
You're living in the past it's a new generation
A girl can do what she wants to do and that's
What I'm gonna do
An' I don't give a damn ' bout my bad reputation
Oh no not me
No no no no no
Not me me me me me
An' I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation
Never said I wanted to improve my station
An' I'm only doin' good
When I'm havin' fun
An' I don't have to please no one
An' I don't give a damn
'Bout my bad reputation
Oh no, not me
Oh no, not me
I don't give a damn
'Bout my bad reputation
I've never been afraid of any deviation
An' I don't really care
If ya think I'm strange
I ain't gonna change
An' I'm never gonna care
'Bout my bad reputation
Oh no, not me
Oh no, not me
Pedal boys!
An' I don't give a damn
'Bout my bad reputation
The world's in trouble
There's no communication
An' everyone can say
What they want to say
It never gets better anyway
So why should I care
'Bout a bad reputation anyway
Oh no, not me
No no, not me
I don't give a damn 'bout my bad reputation
You're living in the past
It's a new generation
An' I only feel good
When I got no pain
An' that's how I'm gonna stay
An' I don't give a damn
'Bout my bad reputation
Oh no, not me
Oh no, not
Not me, not me
You're living in the past it's a new generation
A girl can do what she wants to do and that's

Short Analysis of Song
This song is all about not changing for other people, and moving forward. When she says "you're living in the past it's a new generation" she is telling people to push past the barriers. She wants you to be who you are and girls shouldn't have to be barbies on stage. "A girl can do what she wants to do and thats what i'm gunna do" is an awesome line about breaking gender barriers and rocking out! She goes on and on in this song about how she does care what anyone thinks of her like when she says "An' I don't really care if ya think I'm strange I ain't gonna change". "The worlds in trouble there is no communication" means that everyone is mindlessly doing things for other people and now have a hard time communicating to the world who they actually are. On the flip side this song is also a kind of slap in the face to people who wouldn't sign her because of her reputation.

What Did She Do For Rock??!
Its been written time and time again, Joan Jett broke some barriers! That is what rock is all about isn't it? She defiantly was not afraid to stand out. When other girls sang in their dresses she picked up a guitar and wanted to rock out with the boys, she didn't care if she got a bad reputation, if she wanted to do something she would, end of story. She made girls see that its okay to rock out, you don't have to be all boring and delicate if you don't want to be.
